In fact, I was so inspired by this new professional tool that I wrote and published an entire book about it during the time between its announcement and release! It’s been a crazy, sleepless, caffeine-fueled two weeks, but I think you’re going to like the result. Now, I can’t wait to go back through and process them, thanks to Aurora HDR Professional, the new application by MacPhun and HDR expert Trey Ratcliff. Making good HDR images, however, has traditionally been a dark art involving several steps and multiple applications, so most of those brackets in my library have remained untouched. The advantage of brackets is to combine them later into a single HDR (High Dynamic Range) photo that includes more detail than what a camera sensor by itself can capture. As for the video, well, sadly, it's not as impressive, at least in terms of advancements in image quality, and while it can do 8-bit 4K at 30 frames per second, it's no longer ahead of the pack in that regard, like the Panasonic Lumix GH5 is with its 400Mbps 10-bit codec and 60-fps 4K.For years when I’ve been out photographing landscapes, I’ve dutifully shot bracketed exposures: three or more images that represent light, dark, and balanced views of a scene. Interestingly, the a7 III manages to do an excellent job at both low and high ISOs, the latter of which can go as high as 51,200 non-boosted, which, granted, adds a lot of noise, but noise reduction helps with that. It has excellent dynamic range, low-light performance, and high-speed performance, and the full-frame sensors make the images look absolutely stunning. The Sony Alpha a7 III is a camera with so much tech that it might as well be three different cameras. While it usually goes for a whopping $2,200, Best Buy had brought it down to $1,900, and while that relatively doesn't seem like much, you could always spend the $300 savings on a new lens. Of course, many folks may not realize that Best Buy has some fantastic deals on high-end photography gear, such as this Sony Alpha a7 III mirrorless camera. There are a lot of great Best Buy Black Friday deals going on right now, and whether you're looking for TVs, laptops, or even headphones, there's a little something for everybody. High-dynamic range photography is easier, more powerful with Aurora HDR 2017 to achieve more natural high dynamic range images

The program will list for $99, with pre-orders going for $89 for new users and $69 for an upgrade from the previous version.Īurora HDR 2019 applies A.I. The upgraded HDR program is expected to be released on September 29. A cleaner user interface helps simplify the program for new users, while extended RAW options adds support for newer cameras. The 2017 version is at least 50-percent faster than the earlier program, Macphun says, with HDR merging up to 70-percent faster. RAW and DNG processing is now faster, and the program has new sliders for contrast, vibrancy, and warmth. Working with several merged images is also easier with new blend modes for layers, including darken, lighten, and color burn. The enhanced tone mapping also helps reduce noise and produce more natural results, according to Macphun.
